One Year Later

What's changed in the last year?  Let's see:

Got married in June.  You all knew that.
Moved to Indiana.
Started law school.
Got a second dog - a golden retriever named Lucky.
Finished the first semester of law school.

And that's pretty much it.

Nothing really new here.  Christmas was good, now I'm back in the 'ville working.

I bet a couple of you have noticed the color shift.  There's a perfectly good reason for that, I can assure you.  That reason is...

<Drumroll>

I'm going to law school!!!  IU sent me the acceptance letter today, and I fully plan on committing to the school.  Oh, and the $25,500 scholarship they offered doesn't hurt matters any.  Admittedly, that's spread out over three years, but to have them paying almost a full year of tuition doesn't hurt in the slightest.  As you can probably guess, I'm pretty ecstatic right now.

That's about it, just needed to spread the news!

I got a 167 on my LSAT!  96th percentile!

Indiana Law School, here I come!

Hey, it's been less than five months now.  I'm getting better at this whole "updating" thing.  Ha.

But anyway, those of you who visit my site every day in anticipation of the latest change, fear not!  Things have most definitely taken a turn for the better here at TSUMatt52's Xanga Site!  One of the most glaring changes would have to be the altered colors.  Here's the scoop: it's football season, kiddies, and that means it's time to represent the 'Lou.

Ahem.

I mean, I like the St. Louis Rams.  Yeah.

I added some music to the site too.  It's from a band called Greenwheel, which one of my good friends got me hooked on about three years ago.  Unfortunately they haven't released any more CD's since then, since their record label dropped them and they were just starting out their career.  It pisses me off, too, because who does Island Records have now?  The Killers.  One hit wonders if you ask me.  And if any of you have heard Melissa Etheridge sing a song called "Breathe," Greenwheel made it first, and their version is WAAAAAAAAAAAY better than hers.  But I'm just a bitter Greenwheel fan who doesn't like to hear their songs bastardized.

Anywho, onto my life.

Things have been going really well for me, actually.  I've been in Kirksville since June 22, and surprisingly, the town does still function while there are almost no college students here.  Who'da thunk it, huh?  I've been working at the Home Depot that they just opened up back in July as a cashier, and just recently got promoted to Head Cashier.  It's been pretty fun, and as a smaller store I've gotten to know most of the people who work there.  It's a big change from my last store, where we had almost 250 employees, to come down here where there are less than 70 people working, and only about 20 at any one time.  With so few people, there have obviously been some problems with staffing and scheduling, but it all seems to work out in the end, and I've made some Truman friends through it too.

At the end of August I helped Amanda move in to her new apartment, which is a ginormous improvement over the last place she was living.  (For those of you wondering, "ginormous" falls somewhere in between gigantic and huge on the scale of big things, and is only slightly smaller than "gigantahuge".)  There's just an incredible amount of space in there, and she even has a living room and kitchen!  I know it may not seem like a lot, but when you've been living in a single room apartment for the last year that's only slightly larger than a room in the res halls, you're willing to accept just about anything else.  She also got a king size bed instead of having her parents bring her queen bed up from her house, and it allows both of us to sleep comfortably without being cramped in a twin bed.  Now if we could only get a king-size comforter so it's not a constant struggle for the covers...

I also took the LSAT last Saturday, October 1st, and I really think it went well.  I told my parents that I felt kind of pompous saying that the LSAT wasn't too bad, but I really didn't think it was.  Now we just have to wait and see if the test scores agree with my assessment.  They should be e-mailed out on the 24th, so I'll probably make an entry then letting y'all know how I did.

The parental units were down here yesterday, and it was actually a fun time.  We went out to breakfast, checked out the newly renovated apartment in Campbell, wandered around campus, watched Truman's football team get their asses served to them by Emporia State (we left at halftime when it was only 24-0 Emporia), and finally met up with Amanda for lunch/dinner at the Wooden Nickel.  It was really nice to get to see them again, even though I much prefer life on my own now.  Amanda was finally satisfied that they really don't mind us getting married in June after she talked to them.  I mean, I kept telling her they were alright with it, but nooooooooooooooooooo, she didn't believe me, she had to hear it straight from the horse's mouth.  But anyway, she actually relaxed and enjoyed herself yesterday, which makes me happy.  I want her to like my parents, and I want her to know that my parents like her too.

Speaking of getting married in June, for anyone who doesn't know, we're getting married in June!  We're planning on the 21st, so send me a message if you want to be invited!

Anyway, that's really all I can think of for now, so I'll end it here.  Check back in another couple of months and I might have updated again.

Just kidding.  I'll try to update more often now.  So check back every day!

Yes, I know that in my last entry I said I would try to update more often.

Yes, I know that I made that entry 6 months ago.

This time I make no promises, guarantees or statements of any kind that could possibly lead people to believe updates will occur with any sort of regularity.  However, I have been notified by certain people that my journal ought to be updated, so here I am.

The typical stuff happened last semester.  I wound up getting rid of my chronic C-problem and had no C's this semester, finishing with four B's and an A.  I know my parents want me to do better, but I worked my ass off and if a 3.25 is all I can muster, then they'll just have to deal with it.

The biggest news would have to be that Amanda is now a resident of Kirksville!  She moved into her apartment in the middle of January and has been there ever since.  She's got a lease on an apartment coming up in August, and chances are very good that I'll be spending most of my time and all of my nights over at her place.  I mean come on, she's gonna have a queen-size bed in there!  How can you pass up a deal like that?  Oh yeah, and I'd get to sleep in the same bed with her.  That's kinda nice too.

We got a puppy too, back in April.  His name's Rex and he's almost two months old now!  I'll be sure to put pictures up sometime, but if you don't wanna wait you can go to Amanda's Xanga.  Her name is Canmanagetotriponanything and you'll find her in that handy dandy subscriptions bar over to the left.  But anyway, Rex is a full blooded cocker spaniel and just about the cutest thing you could possibly imagine.  He's a wonderful addition to the family.

And that's really about it.  Second semester living with Chris was just as fun as first semester.  Next year we're moving into an apartment that's gonna be renovated over the summer with carpeting and central air, among other things, so that'll be a nice little retreat.  It'll be fun to get the gang back together.

But without further ado, it's late and I'm tired, so I'm gonna wrap this up.  I'll post again when I get around to it.
